You are right and Duterte himself acknowledges it.
As I said, I believe that deep down inside, he can’t escape the EVIDENCE that God exists. In fact, he seems to be contradicting himself at one point. This paragraph from the article shows it:
“Duterte, however, suggested that there must be a God or a supreme being that prevents billions of stars and celestial bodies from colliding in a frequency that could have long threatened the human race.”
His issues are MORAL, not evidential. He cannot accept the Christian God, that’s all.
