"Neither of them were ever married."

1 Timothy 3:4-5 shows that Paul made the point that if an overseer does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?

Peter was also single. As were ALL the disciples. God saw them fit to be overseers.

Again: Saint Paul in 1 Cor 7:

7 But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another.

8 So I say to those who aren’t married and to widows—it’s better to stay unmarried, just as I am.

What is controversial though are the disciples’ pasts...as in were any of them widowed?
