Intrinsically Disordered
CONGREGATION FOR TH DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH
July5, 2018
At the present time there are those who, basing themselves on observations in the psychological order, have begun to judge indulgently, and even to excuse completely, homosexual relations between certain people. This they do in opposition to the constant teaching of the Magisterium and to the moral sense of the Christian people.
A distinction is drawn, and it seems with some reason, between homosexuals whose tendency comes from a false education, from a lack of normal sexual development, from habit, from bad example, or from other similar causes, and is transitory or at least not incurable; and homosexuals who are definitively such because of some kind of innate instinct or a pathological constitution judged to be incurable.
In regard to this second category of subjects, some people conclude that their tendency is so natural that it justifies in their case homosexual relations within a sincere communion of life and love analogous to marriage, in so far as such homosexuals feel incapable of enduring a solitary life.
In the pastoral field, these homosexuals must certainly be treated with understanding and sustained in the hope of overcoming their personal difficulties and their inability to fit into society. Their culpability will be judged with prudence. But no pastoral method can be employed which would give moral justification to these acts on the grounds that they would be consonant with the condition of such people. For according to the objective moral order, homosexual relations are acts which lack an essential and indispensable finality.
In Sacred Scripture they are condemned as a serious depravity and even presented as the sad consequence of rejecting God.
This judgment of Scripture does not of course permit us to conclude that all those who suffer from this anomaly are personally responsible for it, but it does attest to the fact that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered and can in no case be approved of."from Persona Humana (1975)
For you guys who are still checking from time to time:
Yes, the doctrine is still there.
NO, the doctrine has not changed.
Far as I can tell, this must have gone out over the signature of CDF Prefect Archbishop Luis Ladaria Ferrer, a recent Pope Francis appointee.
Looks to me like someone must be leaning on Francis hard, to make him "allow" Ladaria to clarify doctrine, something that he enjoys as much as he'd enjoy having his teeth pulled out with pliers.
The good news is, Pope Francis cannot change doctrine. (That's why his modus operandi is horrendous appointments, ambiguous antitheses, coy footnotes, stage whispers, winks & nudges & knowing glances.)
The bad news is, Pope Francis doesn't have to. Because he CAN change Catholic pastoral practice, which is, as such, where the rubber meets the road. It is directly constitutive of Catholic culture.
Man your battle stations. That's where the fight will be.
And that's our job.

Tagline.
This isn’t labeled Catholic caucus so I guess it’s OK for me to comment............
Although I left the church 30 some years ago, I still looked to the Church to be a rock of sanity and morality in an ever changing world.
The ImPopester breaks my heart for all of my Catholic brothers and sisters.
I sincerely wish you luck.
If I may, I would like to ask you and other non-Catholics of good will, not only to "wish" but to "pray."
If Pope Francis leads right, he can strengthen many people on the path to Christ, even non-Catholics. But if he leads astray, he can confuse people's consciences and pull many in the opposite direction.
When a pope goes wrong, the whole world is injured--- and I mean everybody, not just Catholics.
That's why the demons work so hard to get their meathooks into him.
Pray and fast. It's global-impact-level serious.
When a pope goes wrong, the whole world is injured-— and I mean everybody, not just Catholics.

Believe me, I know and have been praying since Benedict’s abdication.
:o/
I'm a bit crestfallen.
It looked from the source "The Catholic Thing" like it had just been issued July 5, 2018, but it wasn't signed and I couldn't tell from the format. I thought maybe just the last part was a quote from the 1975 document.
Well, keep praying. Ladaria may still have the strength to defend the Catechism and the witness of Scripture --- if push comes to shove. The Holy Spirit has to push, and it couldn't hurt if we do the shoving.
Prayers for Holy Mother Church.
Thank you!
“Ladaria may still have the strength to defend the Catechism and the witness of Scripture -— if push comes to shove.”
The witness of Scripture FIRST makes the rest moot (including the Catechism or any church official’s dithering). God has spoken definitively in His Word. Homosexuality is a distortion of his design, but so is fornication/adultery/divorce carried out by heterosexuals. All sin is “intrinsically disordered”.
Jesus came into the world to save sinners! Those who come to God through Him WILL be saved, and only then called to “walk worthy” of the Lord. Sinners who reject the Son cannot please Him no matter how nice or good they appear to the eye.
God’s Law is eternal. Thanks for your comment.
Great find.
