World’s Oldest Methodist Chapel to Host Homosexual ‘Celebration’

LONDON, July 13, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The oldest Methodist chapel in the world is about to be the site of an LGBT “celebration,” in direct contradiction of Scripture and the chapel’s own founder.

On Saturday, the pro-homosexual group Christians At Bristol Pride will hold a “Service of Celebration” at The New Room in John Wesley’s chapel in London, Christian Concern reports. The chapel was built in 1778 under the direction of English theologian John Wesley, the founder of Methodism.

The pro-gay group says the event will be “an affirming service with songs, prayers and symbolic actions,” after which attendees will be invited to attend the LGBT “pride” march in Bristol town center. Christians at Bristol Pride have also printed materials bearing the message “God affirms you” for homosexuals.

“It's true that all people, made in God's image, have inherent dignity – and that all who turn to Jesus are welcomed – but the message 'God affirms you' leaves out the need to turn away from what is wrong in God's eyes, and is incompatible with being a disciple of Jesus,” Christian Concern responds. “It seems loving, but actually leaves people abandoned to ‘the ways of the flesh.’”

Horrid. John Wesley is buried behind the chapel; he must be spinning in his grave.

The pro-gay group says the event will be “an affirming service with songs, prayers and symbolic actions”...

Would any of these songs or actions involve rectal syphilis by any chance?

“Give me 10 men who hate nothing but sin and love nothing but God, and we’ll change the world.” - John Wesley

Coincidentally, God would’ve spared the City of Sodom, if there were but 10 righteous people.

And, now the Sodomites and their enablers will be dancing in this den of thieves.

In a few years, homosexuals in Britain will be back in the closet when the Muslims take over.

My brother in law has been a Methodist preacher for 20+ years. His dad was a preacher for 40+ years.

He is thinking the church has left him as well.

The church will need an exorcism and reconsecration after they leave.

Methodism was just a movement within Anglicanism. It is expendable; I think Wesley would agree. Old wine skins, unfit to hold new wine.

The core object of the homosexual’s hatred is God Himself, because He stands against everything the homosexual demands.

Their only interest in religion is to infiltrate it to corrupt it as a smear against God. The see these denominations falling to their agenda as a conquest. That is what they are celebrating, their newest trophy.

Making only the most trivial changes to the article points out precisely where this “celebration” stands spiritually:

LONDON, July 13, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The oldest Methodist chapel in the world is about to be the site of an adultery “celebration,” in direct contradiction of Scripture and the chapel’s own founder.

On Saturday, the pro-adultery group Christians At Bristol Love-is-Love will hold a “Service of Celebration” at The New Room in John Wesley’s chapel in London, Christian Concern reports. The chapel was built in 1778 under the direction of English theologian John Wesley, the founder of Methodism.

The pro-adultery group says the event will be “an affirming service with songs, prayers and symbolic actions,” after which attendees will be invited to attend the adultery “Love-is-Love” march in Bristol town center. Christians at Bristol Love-is-Love have also printed materials bearing the message “God affirms you” for adulterers.

“It’s true that all people, made in God’s image, have inherent dignity – and that all who turn to Jesus are welcomed – but the message ‘God affirms you’ leaves out the need to turn away from what is wrong in God’s eyes, and is incompatible with being a disciple of Jesus,” Christian Concern responds. “It seems loving, but actually leaves people abandoned to ‘the ways of the flesh.’”

No, thank you. I’ll stick with scripture as delivered to us by God. If He wants to change the guidance He provided, He will let us know directly, rather than through demands made by the LGBTQIDIOTs.

It’s 100% political. The UMC has become the Jerry Falwell of the Left.

I disagree with your characterization. It is akin to “Lutheranism was just a movement within Catholicism. It is expendable;I think Luther would agree.”

Methodism may not have started out in England to be a whole new denomination, but one of the most important features of its founding so close on the heels of the American Revolution was Wesley sent Bishop Francis Asbury here, and Methodist Episcopalianism thrived rapidly in the new United States. Methodism’s practice of circuit-riding pastors helped spread the gospel and plant churches all over a frontier nation. In the 19th and early 20th centuries it was one of the largest social organizations in the U.S., with hospitals, retirement homes, universities and charities such as Good Will. Unfortuately, Methodist Episcopalianism was infiltrated by Liberation Theology and communism starting in the 1920s via its returning missionaries from South America and Africa. The merger with the Evangelical United Brethren Church into the UMC and the Youth Rebellion of the 1960s ravaged the liturgy and the seminaries. The UMC has since been progressively destroyed as a Christian church. But its history was powerfully intertwined with the founding of our Constitutional Republic (”if we can keep it”).

I don’t disagree with any of your excellent exposition of history, but even John Wesley claimed his Episcopalian identity on his death bed, if I remember right.
