We Cannot Remain Silent on Jerusalem
Two events in 5752 (around Jan. 1992) compel everyone to speak up about what happened in Jerusalem last week.
On the 3rd of Shvat the Lubavitcher Rebbe indirectly, but clearly, charged chasidim to go forth and speak in his name/say what needs to be said. 12 days later, on Tu BShvat, the Rebbe stopped Shamir's minister in a dollar line. Many prophetic things were said and indeed it led to the fall of a government and later a president arose and fell after not heeding the warnings, but what's relevant here is the following.
The Rebbe said that it would have been better that no Jewish government have been established in Israel than for one to give away holy land for no reason (security was not enhanced by doing so, rather it was clearly compromised). Giving away holy land for no reason was a desecration of G-D's Name. (The Rebbe then said that he foresaw danger to the Jews in Israel, but would go “mesiras nefesh,” essentially offered his life, to stop it. Less then a month and a half later was the stroke, R”L.)
What would the Rebbe say about the desecration of G-D's Name that took place this week in Jerusalem? Note that this happened during the week of Parshas Eikev, a Torah portion that admonishes us about following Torah in Israel and the parsha (portion) that speaks most about G-D's protection of Israel.
What did the Rebbe command us to say in his name (on 3 Shvat) about such a situation?
These parades are not about tolerance. They're devoid of human dignity and exploit kids. Jerusalem is G-D's holy palace. We need to speak up. Do you think Muslims, who value the City and Arabic Christians who also value the city, appreciated this? What in the world did they want to accomplish, other than stoking fires in the Mideast, and on this issue the Muslims would be right.
I know that in the Western World one cannot say anything about any choices. That's why there will be no Western World in a few decades (not a wish and hope that they turn around – but a fact that needs to be stated). And no, this argument isn't against any one person and yes, every individual deserves friendship and dignity. They don't have the right to invade synagogues with loony displays. They don't have a right to invade G-d's holy city and do so either. It's actually much worse to do so.
Hopefully there'll still be Judaism, beyond the original 70 people that we started out with. Yes, Moshiach will come. Hopefully, not in spite of us – and he would have been sent decades ago if we didn't turn our backs to basics on all levels (working as a community despite differences, protecting the family, actual Torah education, etc.).
The Rebbe was sometimes against even chasidim in America speaking to people in America about what should be done in Israel, which is often a waste of time. This problem threatens the world view of Jews everywhere and is the death nail in the coffin of assimilation. Jews have given a lot to the world. Those who became steeped in Greek culture didn't see their grandkids even associate with the word “Jewish.”
These parades engender no tolerance, no respect, no peace, but do fan flames in the Middle East and are the very definition of disgusting foolishness (ask yourself what would have happened if the heroes at Selma had seen fit to wear nothing but chicken feathers – and I'm being generous here – before you say that ANYONE benefits from these gross displays).
If this is the statement of this generation, then the world is lost. Is Judaism lost, beyond 70 souls continuing G-D's work?

He does no one any favors by referring to Moshiach (messiah).
The term means “a savior and liberator” of the Jewish people.
The Hebrew Bible, also called the Tanakh or Mikra refers to Cyrus the Great, king of Persia, as a messiah for his decree to rebuild the Jerusalem Temple. A few have even suggested that President Trump, by recognizing an undivided Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and thus opening it up to further international recognition, qualifies as a Jewish messiah.
