My local parish had been mixing Latin and vernacular for a while - Kyrie Eleison and Agnus Dei. Nothing crazy...and everyone sang the Latin without a problem.

A few months ago, a new priest came in who ALWAYS managed to work Pope Francis' actions with a positive spin into his homily. At the same time, guess what happened to the modest amount of Latin in the mass?

I've been itching to ask the choir director what happened. In the meantime, during these troubling times, the Latin Mass beckons once again.

Ran into an interesting quote today, from my fave Catholic historian, Christopher Dawkins:

“When the Church possesses all the marks of external power and success, then is its hour of danger; and when it seems that no human power can save it, the time of its deliverance is at hand.”
