Studying God’s Word ping
When anything becomes a god unto itself....
“Thou shalt have no gods before Me.”
Gee I dunno. It’s simplified my life immensely, and that’s one reason why I love it.
Great post and true.
My father often said, “the more you have, the more you have to worry about.” No truer words were spoken. I am as materialistic as the next guy, but I know it is all temporary and it can be gone in a minute.
I know not to fall in love with my “stuff”. This is a lesson currently being learned by hundreds of people who’s homes and belongings have been wiped out in the recent fires, right down to wedding photos and priceless family heirlooms. It is just “stuff”. Never fall in love with your stuff. Appreciate what you have while you have it and when it is suddenly gone in a fire, flood, or robbery, just appreciate that you got to enjoy it as long as you did,. Never grieve over stuff. That is only for people, and maybe for pets.
Stuff can definitely become a burden if you don’t keep it in its place.
I often give thanks to God for my stuff and for the enjoyent of my stuff. I have a lot of stuff that brings me frequent joy and even happiness. But it is all in God’s hands and it is strictly up to Him if I keep or lose any of my stuff. He can take it all away from me any time he wants to,and I would just smile and say “thank you Lord God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ, thank you Holy Ghost for letting me play with my stuff as long as you let me. I have lots of pleasant memories of them., but your Will be done.”
Never fall in love with your stuff. Not even a wedding ring. At the end of the day, it is just stuff. You can always get more. You can’t replace a loved one.
