There’s differences but no where near as big as westerners want to think.
There ARE differences between Methodists and Baptists - but NO WHERE NEAR AS BIG AS THE DIFFERENCES AS BETWEEN METHODISTS AND MUSLIMS.
IT’S THE SAME WITH SECTS WITHIN ISLAM. In brief - they all go to Mecca...
I guess I missed the part in my history class where Baptists and Methodists killed each other for centuries over their differences. A better analogy would be Catholic/Protestant who actually did do that. But Islam is still stuck in the 16th century in that regard (if not the 7th century).
The reason this comparison doesn't really work is that Methodists and Baptists don't murder one another over their small differences in doctrine. Come to think of it, Christians haven't murdered one another much over issues of doctrine much since the 30 Thirty Years War (before somebody brings up the conflicts in Northern Ireland or former Yugoslavia as an example, these were really conflicts based on national or ethnic identity where religious beliefs were at best secondary).
