The report was only about 6 dioceses, in one state, in one country out of +200 - and the systemic pattern of abuse happened worldwide.

1,000 older adults in just PA were willing to come forward and talk about their abuse by catholic priests - after decades.

It often takes people decades to admit and process the trauma that was forced upon them, by an institution and people they trusted.

The willingness to speak often doesn’t happen until a later point of maturity and development.

They often feel that speaking out is a betrayal of their church, so most never speak. The report is likely the tip of the iceberg of abused children.

It is evil and despicable action by priests, and pure evil by the Roman hierarchy that covered it up, shuffled priests to green pastures, and kept the abuse quiet.

There is likely abuse continuing today.

You’ll hear about it in 20-50 years.

In the meantime, you can condemn the evil that happened to children and that continues to exist in the gay Vatican mafia.

Donahue is spinning the report…as if it is primarily a PR issue.
To my mind, the real disgrace, even beyond the horrifying accounts of the abuse, is the manner in which the Church used the machinery of its (national, possibly international) bureaucracy to facilitate and then cover up not only immoral, but in many cases criminal activity.
This is HUGE. It is not going away. We are only at the very beginning.

You can try and deflect with one article, and I wouldn’t deny that that other religions have had abuse issues, but within the catholic church it is systemic and goes all the way to the top.

I would just say that there is no other religion that has a formal hierarchy like the Catholic Church. I'm quite certain that if - for sake of argument only - the Lutheran Church had the kind of unified structure as the Catholic Church, you would likely be seeing similar systemic abuses.

That being said, there is no doubt that we seem to be dealing with the Catholic version of the "Deep State". My daughter's pastor in his homily said that there are other states that will be following PA's lead on this and there is likely to be more pain to come.

I hope I am wrong, but your comment about the Catholic Church ceasing to exist in America makes is appear you are gleeful at the prospect. Perhaps you don't realize that the body of the Church consists of ALL the faithful, ordained and laity. That all must suffer because of the sins of the few I suppose is our cross to bear, but I respectfully ask that you consider the pain the faithful are enduring right now.

Both are disgusting crimes.

The rape of a child is much more horrendous.

The homosexual rape of a boy by a priest should result in his hanging in Vatican Square.

The rest would stop or quit the priesthood pretty fast.

I just read the first 15 pages. I want to throw up.
The Catholic church is overrun with homosexuals. Keep your children far from them.

Also worth noting. It was a majority Protestant Supreme Court that gave us Roe v. Wade and the untold amounts of blood spilled in its wake should cause us all to tremble. We owe so much of the renewal and revitalization of our courts around the country to Catholic legal minds like that of the late Justice Scalia and the future SC Justice Kavanaugh.

The United States government, the American culture at large, is guilty of numerous sins in the sight of God and man throughout its history — but I’m not going to neglect my US citizenship anytime soon either.

Name me one catholic Democrat Supreme Court Justice that would support reversing Roe v Wade. No catholic Democrat would ever make it to the Supreme Court today if they didn't support abortion totally and completely. If there are any catholic Democrats in the House or Senate that are anti-abortion, they're awfully quiet about it. I bet you could count the number on one hand and still have some fingers left over.

Sometimes the religion (or any other set of "chairmen") is more important than the stated purpose .... it must be preserved at all costs - even if the innocent are the sacrifices that are necessary.

I keep thinking of the Pharisees who would put on "the pomp" in public and try to act as if they were so much ahead of the rest of the people in spiritual matters...seems like a pretty important God/Man had something to say about them....

From Matthew 23: 13-14 You Pharisees and teachers of the Law of Moses are in for trouble! You’re nothing but show-offs. You lock people out of the kingdom of heaven. You won’t go in yourselves, and you keep others from going in.[b]

Hmmmm.......wondering what the total number of priests is in PA? Maybe 776? (Google Search).

If so, almost 40% are pedophiles? And people still call this a church?

The indictment is on those members who put up with and allow this condition............and remain committed.........

Well, duh. They’re democrats first and Catholics second (or third, or worse). This is not news.

I can only speak for Lutherans, and no, we are not hiding a sex scandal. I cannot speak for any other denominations.

Bill Gothard, That is a CULT, not a church. He was raping a lot of young girls. I know a family who got caught up in his cult. It destroyed lives. He is pure evil.

Apples and oranges. This didn't happen within any Protestant Church in the same way many at the top in the Catholic Church conspired to cover up the abuse.

And before you point out the Protestant denominations that have modernized their doctrines to possibly support abortion, I don't support them either.
