Not a bad idea. Especially in the dioceses/archdioceses in which they offending bishops/archbishops seemed/seem to prosper.

DiNardo is our current bishop.

He is from PA. I’d heard he was Wuerl’s Chancellor for a year.

I have friend who serves at the Co-Cathedral. She said last Sunday it was empty. I’ll check again tomorrow.

The other day she asked a priest if there really was a “Lavender Mafia”. She said he looked shocked and asked who she’d been talking to.

I attend a Catholic Church in Washington, DC. Our pastor, of whom you are aware, is as orthodox as a Catholic priest can be. He clearly feels Cardinals McCarrick and Wuerl have betrayed the church and is adamantly opposed to homosexuality in general and certainly in the Church.

I cannot imagine having his parish shut down because his parishioners decided to divert their tithes to another charity or cause. There are good priests who are aching over this scandal in those diocese where perverts held the high offices; they don’t deserve to be punished.

I agree with you. I doubt that the parishioners of Monsignor Pope will send their money elsewhere. Perhaps they will change some of their donations to the diocese and give it directly to his church.

Makes you wonder where the state AGs have been. And what local and state LE knew and when they knew it. This is going to affect far more than the Catholic church. It’s going to nail its governmental enablers as well.

From what I have read, IL and NY AG’s have started investigations.

Started? Snort. That Boston Globe expose was 16 years ago. Where have they been, eh?

Msgr. Pope’s parish always exceeds its established goal for the “Cardinal’s Fund” .. we will see how that goes this year! BUT, again ... where do funds for the “Cardinal’s Fund” go? Will this cut back on help to the poor? Catholic schools?

They really DO need to clean up the Church once and for all no matter where or how high the chips fall.

It’s so parallel to the USA right now, with agencies formerly trusted (DOJ/FBI/CIA/NSC, etc., etc., etc.) now seen as corrupted because of their leadership, while still populated by dedicated agents.

May God bless and keep Archbishop Viganò. I hope he has a security detail.

Are you really surprised? Pennsylvania elected and connected officials knew about Sandusky. For YEARS. This is more of the same government enabling.

Bergoglio will skate.

“””

I don’t believe that. He is going down!

Prayers up for the Holy Spirit to remove this false pope and replace him with a true and faithful shepherd.

Yes, there have been government officials and media people who have been quiet about the abuses. They have had reasons to be quiet.

First of all, they didn't have the proof because the church withheld evidence and lied. Plus, they were under incredible pressure over the years. Catholic AGs, judges, and newspaper editors were pressured by the bishops and archbishops to stay quiet. Imagine you are a judge or an elected official and the Cardinal calls you up constantly telling you that you are a bad Catholic and you are damaging the church, hinting that maybe you would be excommunicated, hinting that his priests will tell the parishioners not to vote for you.

With no evidence, what do you do?

It is Christ’s Church and all of us are the Body of Christ. It is not the church of Bishops, they will eventually die. They will face God’s judgement.

The role of the Church is to lead us to Heaven. Even Jesus told us to follow the teachings of the Pharisees, but not their example. We must be careful to avoid false prophets and their tendency to follow the ways of the world and not Christ.

We need to support the righteous men and women and clergy of the Catholic Church (including financial support). If we do not, then more souls may be lost to the devil.

We need to pray, ask for St Michael, the Archangel to defend the Church, and to stand firm with Christ and the Body of Christ for righteousness.

Christ promised that the Church will last until the end of time. This is just one test for the Church, one of many over the centuries. Keep your lamp lit, Jesus will come again.

These bishops, with their huge, extravagant, multi-million dollar mansions, are not following the will of God. None of these pervert priests and bishops, nor any of the multitude of silent priests and bishops who never spoke a single peep about any of these disgusting perverted actions of their fellow presbyters and prelates to protect innocent minors, are doing the will of God. You do what you want with your money, but until they actually clean all these filthy perverts out of the ranks of the bishops and priests, and get rid of the stink of the "smoke of Satan" out of the Temple of God (as Pope Paul VI called it), they will no longer get one thin dime of my money. That would be supporting Satan, not God, and I won't do it.
