Don’t be so sure about that. The U.S.-based ‘Papal Foundation’ has been a source of direct payments of tens of millions of dollars directly to the Vatican. Outside its rent and investment income in Italy, the Holy See’s main sugar daddies are the U.S. and Germany (through it’s church tax). If American purses close up, they ain’t makin’ up the difference in Nigeria or the Philippines.

Not from parishioners perhaps. Do any foreign governments funnel money to the Vatican? Just curious.

We’ll know the Catholic Church is “fixed” when it becomes commonplace for faithful Catholics to resort to having a humble priest come to say Mass in their garage or basement.

Agree. Biggest growth areas for Christianity are Africa, Latin & South America, with the northern hemisphere becoming increasingly secular. Moreover, the Latino regions are moving heavily toward Protestantism away from Catholicism. No way can biggest growth area Africa compete with the shrinking base of Catholics in the US when it comes to funding the deviant Catholic bureaucracy.
