My knowledge of SA history comes primarily from the James Michener novel The Covenant, which begins with the Dutch establishing their resupply station for their voyages to and from the Dutch East Indies. And from what I've read on and off since reading that novel in the 1980s, the history presented by Michener is pretty accurate.

He clearly showed that the black Africans had been migrating down from central Africa for centuries, and that the whites were in SA before any of the black tribes from central Africa. And that the San people, or Hottentots, were the native people in SA when the Dutch first arrived.

But it has always been fairly preposterous that the roughly 10% white population would, or could raise the living and educations standards of the other 90% to the same standards. An impossible task. I don't seen any good outcome as things now stand and I'm also glad that President Trump has opened this subject and asked Pompeo to give him a report on the situation.

Think I'll found that old novel and reread it since developments in SA seem to be entering a critical period.

Partner, u have pointed out exactly how the problem has grown in previous years to what it is in present day form in S.A.

The migration of these blacks to a better lifestyle has been great for a lot of blacks but that will be gone when the whites leave period.

It is not because they can not farm but the white farmers have the organizational .experience and the proper tools that it takes to prosper in this land and make the land profitable to farm. It takes years to gain the experience necessary for the mass production of crops and animal farming as food for the world.

I have not read this book but I do know that most of the folks that settled in present day Netherlands were sent to the Netherlands because of their religious beliefs and we in America benefitted so much from these early pilgrims who settled here in America.

U are correct that the Dutch later on settled this area in S.A. and really were independent from the black Zulu tribe since they were given their own land to farm and live as they pleased after their defeat in battles at the hands of the Dutch folks and English folks.

We just feel bad for the present day White farmers who have made S.A. the breadbasket for a lot of present day Africa and we are all praying that they will not be slaughtered as they were in Zimbabwe.

It just does not look good for the Whites in South Africa given the present day leadership.

Also, we have not gotten into the tribal conflicts within blacks that can arise when the whites are gone from South Africa.
