It’s a start.

The only real solution is open everything up and every single priest who has broken his vow of chastity and every single leader who concealed the offenses need to be out.

I'm not sure they want to open the McCarrick file. Actually, the formal file may contain nothing. But ask people in New Jersey about the sea side house, the seminary or the 30 year old monsignors and you might learn more than you want to know.

New Jersey has been a festering boil for a while. When your elderly relative asks you about Provincetown you begin to wonder. When they tell you their parish priest was going to P'town for 2 weeks you don't want to tell them what that's all about.

There’s got to be files … within Washington DC

Not anymore. I'm sure they've been hustled off to Rome in a diplomatic pouch. To avoid any inconvenient subpoenas and the like.
