From what I have learned in the past, BCE is what atheist use instead of BC. To them, BCE means Before Common Era.

Not just atheists. Devout Jews also use it, for obvious reasons.

The Jews have their own calendar which is dated from the creation of Adam and Eve on the Sixth Day. That is obviously the best chronology.
