Reminds me of Congress and the Never Ending Study; set a far off date for study of an existing problem already studied and allegedly resolved.

The classic political dodge by a very political pope. “We’ll just appoint a commission (or congressional panel) to aggressively study this matter and get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, hopefully, everyone will forget all about it, the dust will settle, and we will never have to deal with the issue again.”
