Ever since I was a kid, I noticed the Saints' Days that were for "St. Isaac Jogues, St. John de Brebeuf and Companions," "St. Paul Miki and Companions," "St. Charles Lwanga and Companions," and so forth. Martyrs, mostly. I always hoped I'd be one of the Companions.

My favorite aunt was a clinical psychologist at the state asylum in Milledgeville...and a friend of Flannery O'Connor.

She encouraged my interest in "shrinkage"...

I read Freud, Adler, Jung...and still do.

Lately, I am a Jordan Peterson fan.
