Didn’t sound like she ever knew God.

I’m puzzled by people who claim to be logical atheists but switched their position based on clearly emotional reasons. Might as well say you stopped believing in physics because you found out Einstein was an ahole.

Megachurches made me not take the people that go to them seriously, not to stop believing in God.

The only megachurch here in Houston that is Biblically grounded is Second Baptist. Hopefully Ed Young has trained up a good successor.
On the other hand, there’s Lakewood, with Joel Osteen’s prosperity gospel, and worse. All feel good, and no real Biblical grounding.

Females can’t be pastors.

That’s a pretty weak basis for judgement of another believer. But I am more likely to agree with you in general as well regarding preference of venue size.

I am not a big venue guy. I actually don’t like people in general, but I really do like to find individuals to share the faith with along the way.

People who ponder the reality of god’s selective mercy, sparing tragedy for some, while inexplicably permitting tragedy for others, causes loss of faith due to having a bit too much to think.

See subject video’s turning point experience witnessing Holocaust camps, crematoriums, which may cause some Christians living in today’s modern comfort to ask:

Where did the love, care and stewardship of Father God go during the MILLIONS of innocent victims murdered in So Many wars?

110 Million killed by 20th century government Communism-Fascism democide.

100+ Million killed by Islamic conquest since it’s 7th century inception.

A third of dark age Europe killed by the Black Plagues.
Etc.
Some can’t help but think.

Major ear tickling. Nice music, nice people, nice surroundings. No conviction, no tears, no repentance. Not like the underground churches where Jesus Freaks worship.

Speaking as an atheist myself, I agree. My lack of belief in a deity doesn’t stem from an outrage at the unfairness of the universe around me. I simply see no reason to believe that anything “supernatural” (for lack of a better term) exists.

I wouldn’t want to worship in a place that looks like a concert hall/civic center. Where’s the beauty in that?

“Some can’t help but think.”

It is but a small taste of what the world would be like without God. Man asked for this world when he believed the lie instead of the TRUTH.

I remember a recording made by the second Baptist Church choir in circa ‘85. Their first digital recording with the Houston symphony and Sergiou Comissiona. “Hallelujah” I think it was called and it featured a soloist that later became more popular in the Christian contemporary scene. The album itself was classically oriented with famous hymns by Haydn, ect. It was released on record but they never released it on compact disc.(I’ve lost that record). I wonder if the church still sells copies of it in their lounge/book store section(if they have one). The recording and sonics were excellent and the singing could have rivaled(at least in ‘85) some of what the Mormon Tabernacle Choir does.

Start in the NT book of Acts and read the results of Peter’s preaching.

“3,000 were added to the church in one day.”

Which god?
Some provocative thinkers note that things were alarmingly bloody under the stewardship of a Middle eastern based Abrahamic god.
Did other geographic religious regions suffer as much bloody conflict?
Eastern countries?
Hindu?
Buddhist?
Daoism?
African countries?
Pre-colonial Americas?

What’s the suffering insurance protection policy efficacy of ME based god vs other regional belief system god in terms of protection against man based democide and natural catastrophe deaths?

Honest question.
Would make for an interesting study.
