Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

When writing for a short story or for a stage play, it is important to keep the action continuous, and in one setting. The difficulties of set design and stagecraft dictate that settings change very few times and are called "scenes". An "Act" might have more than one scene, but a play or an opera will usually keep the same "set" for the entire act. Now, of course, with computers and automated stage effects, this is not as an essential part of play-writing as it used to be, and there are some very effective stage plays and musicals that defy the conventional way of doing things.

Screen writing, has an advantage over stage writing, as one can cut to a whole new scene, cut back to the other story, and back again, streaming several stories together that converge at the end. Editing and pacing are important, to keep the finished product from being choppy. A sitcom that used the technique very successfully was Seinfeld, which sometimes had as many as five different stories all come together in the end.

The Gospel of John is so beautifully written that, in this one chapter, we go from the Garden, to Peter at the High Priest's house, indoors to the interrogation, back out to Peter, and on to Pilate. We have no trouble following the stories as they all converge. We will see, at the end of this Gospel, that the three denials of Peter are dealt with one by one, and he is reinstated...but let's not jump ahead just yet.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance..” Psalm 33 NASB

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
