The Universal Prayer

69. In the Universal Prayer or Prayer of the Faithful, the people respond in some sense to the Word of God which they have received in faith and, exercising the office of their baptismal Priesthood, offer prayers to God for the salvation of all. It is desirable that there usually be such a form of prayer in Masses celebrated with the people, so that petitions may be offered for holy Church, for those who govern with authority over us, for those weighed down by various needs, for all humanity, and for the salvation of the whole world.

70. The series of intentions is usually to be:

a) for the needs of the Church;

b) for public authorities and the salvation of the whole world;

c) for those burdened by any kind of difficulty;

d) for the local community.

Our Protestant Church prays for him weekly as well as other leaders including democrats. Not therefore endorsing all they say or so but for God to cause them to rule well etc.

My liberal Episcopal parish church prays for Donald Trump our President, Paul LePage our Governor and a rotating group of local leaders here n Portland Maine. I am sure it kills the libs to do this.

I don’t recall ever hearing a petition concerning any president in the Prayers of the Faithful, although it seems I’ve heard prayers “for those in public office” occasionally called for.

My priest prays for the President just as he did for the fraud that preceded him.

Nope. No prayer for the president. This way the Trump name is not even spoken.

Generic term “ leaders of nations”, or “our leaders” is used exclusively and the action is for the poor and the alien.

From the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom...

Litany of Fervent Supplication

Deacon: Let us say with all our soul and with all our mind, let us say.

People: Lord, have mercy.

Deacon: O Lord almighty, the God of our fathers, we implore You, hear us and have mercy.

People: Lord, have mercy.

Deacon: Have mercy on us, O God, according to Your great goodness, we implore You, hear us and have mercy.

People: Lord, have mercy.(3x)

Deacon: Again we pray for [his Beatitude] Metropolitan ______, for [his Grace] our Bishop ______, for priests, deacons, and all other clergy, and for all our brethren in Christ.

People: Lord, have mercy. (3x)

Deacon: Again we pray for the (President) and all civil authorities of this country and for those serving in its Armed Forces.

People: Lord, have mercy. (3x)

Deacon: Again we pray for the blessed and ever-memorable holy Orthodox Patriarchs; for the blessed and ever memorable founders of this holy house; for all our fathers and brethren, the Orthodox departed this life before us, [especially ______ and all those] who here and in all the world lie asleep in the Lord.

People: Lord, have mercy. (3x)

Deacon: Again we pray for mercy, life, peace, health, salvation, and visitation for the servants of God [especially ______], and for the pardon and remission of their sins.

People: Lord, have mercy. (3x)

Deacon: Again we pray for those who bring offerings and do good works in this holy and all-venerable house; for those who labor and those who sing; and for all the people here present, who await Your great and rich mercy.

People: Lord, have mercy. (3x)

Priest: O Lord our God, accept this fervent supplication of Your servants, and have mercy on us according to the multitude of Your mercy. Send down Your bounties upon us, and upon all Your people who await the rich mercy that comes from You,

for You are a merciful God, and You love mankind, and to You we ascribe glory: to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.

People: Amen.

Yes, every week. We have a wonderful Priest— we also have a banner the size of the front of the church that says “this is a Pro-life church”. That shouldn't’t be a big deal in a Catholic Church but these days it is. And the church is packed every Saturday and Sunday!

I'm in a non denominational church and we pray for Trump all the time. We prayed for Kavanaugh and family. We used to pray that Obama would get saved. We believe if you are for killing babies and sodomy you aren't saved. We are told we will know them by their fruit. Romans 1:32 says you are guilty of the sin if you just agree with it.

There was a word given by the Holy Spirit when Kavanaugh was in trouble that if he was rejected, America is under judgement. If he made it, the can is kicked down the trail one more time.

We should notice that he was approved by just one vote. Jesus said it will be as in the days of Noah and Lot when He comes back. We are there. Birth pangs could start any time now.

My Church prays generically for “elected leaders”, in language that is basically a veiled call for open borders and more welfare.
