A deranged man rushes the altar and starts screaming obscenities during this morning's Sunday Mass on EWTN
I could only see a shadow of the man from the lower right corner. What I could clearly see, was the priest in his green vestments remarkably maintaining his composure throughout the entire 1 minute event.
Fortunately, the priest was not alone. There were people available to grapple with the intruder and keep him away from the altar, if that was his goal.
There was an Altar Girl seen on the right side of the Altar.
A school girl who was clearly terrified.
OMG!!
This is exactly why we have armed police at every service at my church. I was so happy to see the big burly guy standing guard this morning.
Our Lady of the Angels does not have altar girls - that girl/lady is in the choir which is located behind the altar in that church.
CGuy1: Just from here, I betcha I can make that dude over there rush the altar, shouting obscenities.
CGuy2: Really? I'd like to see that!
CGuy1: (Whispers into shirt cuff.)
(Dude jumps up, rushes the altar, shouting obscenities.)
CGuy2: How'd you do that?
CGuy1: Oh, it's just a little thing we got going over there at Stanford. Remember that young girl I had staying at our place? The one that ended up assassinating Nicholas Deak? ...
The priest looked visibly shaken when the parishioner started yelling...almost dropped the chalice.
Fotunately he maintained his composure and the mass continued.
LIB lunatic gone wild?
They disrupted during the procession and the sermon, but most egregiously at the raising of the Eucharist just as this man did in the video. The parishioners and priests bitterly complained to their bishops and after nearly two years of this kind of relentless activity did the Church decide to act.
The bishops interviewed the disrupters to find out why they were doing it. They found out that the root of the problem was that the Protestant pastors were being upset at being ousted from what they considered their buildings.
Every person questioned were told that if they just promised to stop the disruptions they would be let go. This number was well over 1,500 people. All but about 200 or 300 remained adamant, and these were punished to the full extent the law allowed, for which Mary is now famous.
BTW - I am directly descended from Roland Taylor, one of those disrupting pastors.
No, it sounded more like he was protesting against the modern liturgy.
When the priest is screaming obscenities on the altar, its time to charge.
Saw it myself as i am disabled and had a bad day. Father was upset big time and appeared to be in shock. Almost dropped the chalice. Prayers for all in the church. I’m thankful the idiot didn’t have a gun
Well Mary wasnt very tolerant of those errant prods
Hence the nick
Compare that with Elizabeth. She immediately worked to make sure every Anglican priest became an organ of the state. They were encouraged to rage against the Catholics during their sermons. So, instead of preaching the Word of God, they were slamming Catholics.
During the days of Elizabeth, a young man wrote her a letter asking if she would consider tolerating the Catholics. For his effort he was arrested, not given a trial, and he was executed by hanging, drawing and quartering. Cuz he wrote her a letter.
There also was a Catholic priest who was caught in the act of baptizing a baby. He was arrested, not given a trial, and executed by being hung, drawn and quartered. Cuz he was pouring water over the forehead of a little one.
Historians over the last couple of decades have come to the conclusion (and this includes Protestant historians) that John Foxe's book is actually a propaganda piece intended to make Elizabeth look better than Mary. He conflated events, mixed events and made up stuff. This they discovered as they were going through state documents where all the facts were placed at the time of the events.
If the complaining pastors would have asked Mary to help them find new accommodations, she would have done so.
Im assuming youre Catholic ..lol
It is a real shame that Queen Mary I has been so maligned.
