What did Schneider do to deserve the scare quotes around “bishop”? Francis, on the other hand...

Novus Ordo Watch is sedevacantist website (I think they hold that Pius XII was the last valid pope) so in their view everyone in communion with Rome gets scare quotes.

Actually, for those who are ignorant of what sedevacantists really believe rather than what the anti-sedevacantist propagandists would like others to think they believe, the quotes are not "scare tactics".

The quotation marks are based on the fact that the new Paul VI rites of ordination and episcopal consecration were changed substantially to the point where they are, at best, doubtfully valid.

So, the quotation marks are to show that it is questionable whether Bishop Athanasius is actually a bishop, not about what he may or may not have done.
