Fr. James Martin: Pope Appoints ‘Gay-Friendly’ Bishops, Cardinals to Change Church on LGBT

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 7, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Vatican consultant and homosexual activist priest Fr. James Martin stated at a recent conference that Pope Francis has gone out of his way to appoint “gay-friendly” bishops and cardinals in the Catholic Church.

Speaking at the Ignatian Family Teach-in for Justice 2018 in Washington D.C. on Saturday evening, the Jesuit priest and America magazine editor-at-large told students that “things are changing” in the Church regarding homosexuality under Francis’ watch.

“...Just look at what has happened in the last five years--since Pope Francis has been elected,” he said.

“First of all, Pope Francis’s comments about LGBT people like ‘Who am I to judge’. His five most famous words were in response to questions about gay people, right? He’s the first pope to use the word ‘gay’, you know, in a sentence,” Martin continued.

Martin emphasized Pope Francis’s relationships with people who identify as LGBT. He pointed out how the Pope has appointed bishops and cardinals who support the homosexual agenda.

“He has gay friends. He’s talked about wanting gay people to feel welcome in the Church. That’s a big deal. He has also appointed gay-friendly bishops and archbishops and cardinals, like Cardinal Tobin, the archbishop of Newark who, for example, held a ‘Welcome Mass’ for LGBT people in his Cathedral… So that’s one trend,’ Martin said.

The point you missed, is that the Gospels were taught orally via TRADITION, long before they were reduced to writing.

Jesus departed this earth 33 AD.

Mark was written ~50s...possibly 17 years after His ascension.

Luke was written ~60

Matthew was written ~60s

John was written ~85-90....57 years after His ascension

Paul's letters were completed between 49-66 AD and were already considered Scripture (2 Peter 3:15-16).

However, what you seem to forget is the Holy Spirit was guiding these men as they wrote.

You're attempting to define "Tradition" to mean everything taught by Roman Catholicism...which, as has been demonstrated is not a valid nor supportable argument.

Not all of them. And at least we have a method t remove bad leaders. We are not religiously obligated to call our president “Christ on earth” and other blasphemous titles

If a Protestant “pastor” does such a thing he is defrocked In disgrace not covered for and moved to another congregation.

Another blasphemous name Jesus not only tells us to call no man father, Holy Father is the term He used to address His Heavenly Father. Give that title to a sinful man and I can see why you have issues

I think Paul would be astounded and amused to be called a Roman Catholic

You will be pleased to learn that normal Catholics do not believe the blasphemies offered by Pope Francis' minions like Sicluna, Rosica and Spadaro. They really are poapolators, but curiously, only as this extravagant hyperbole is focused on Francis and not on his more Catholic predecessors.

I think they so fulsomely praise Francis, no because he is Catholic or the pope, but because they hope he will be the gravedigger of Catholicism.

We recognizcze when heretial insolence raises its head. It has certainly done so in this truly weird pontificate.

But the larger and deeper conviction -- so often robustly stated by St. Paul --- that we are living in Christ, and Christ living in us, rightly understood, is not heretical. Are you not aliving member of Christ on earth?

Can you not say, with Paul, "I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me"?

That’s certainly true of some Protestants. Then there’s Gene Robinson.

If you are incapable of reading John 6:50-71 and recognizing Christ's reference to his establishment of the Eucharist in the Last Supper, then there is no point in my explaining further.

BUNK!

HE 'established' NOTHING!

The 'last supper' was an ordinary Passover meal; just like the HUNDREDS that had preceded it!

Matthew 26:17-30 English Standard Version (ESV)

17 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Where will you have us prepare for you to eat the Passover ?” 18 He said, “Go into the city to a certain man and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.’” 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the Passover .

Mark 14:12-25 English Standard Version (ESV)

12 And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, “Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the Passover ?” 13 And he sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him, 14 and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us.” 16 And the disciples set out and went to the city and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover .

Luke 22:7-16

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”

“Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.

10 He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”

13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover .

14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”

If you are incapable of reading John 6:50-71...

Huh?

These verses predate the 'last supper' by a whole lot of time.

John 6:58 This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever.”

I'll bet that woman at the well is STILL waiting to get some of that Living Water Jesus mentioned.

Surely IT should have been mentioned at the LS.

“I am also sure that no protestant pastor anywhere has ever molested a child.”

You be sure to let me know when you have evidence of a Protestant Church engaging in a world wide decades long cover of of thousands and thousands of cases of child rape. Umkay?

The New Testament rests on the Old testament and both rest on the Jewish ‘writings’....

Well, it doesn't mean that for the pope, either. He's not an all-purpose oracle.

The following 2-min video, which makes the matter plain, may make your smile:
