Pope Says Entrepreneurship Needed in Face of ‘Scandalous Poverty’

'The possession of goods is an opportunity to multiply them with creativity and use them with generosity,' the Pope said

Pope Francis spoke of the need for creative entrepreneurship in the face of “scandalous poverty” Wednesday, stressing the importance of generosity with one’s possessions.

“If there is hunger on earth, it is not because food is missing!” Pope Francis said in St. Peter’s Square Nov. 7.

“What is lacking is a free and far-sighted entrepreneurship, which ensures adequate production, and a solidarity approach, which ensures fair distribution,” he continued.

“Possession is a responsibility,” Francis stressed. “The ownership of a good makes the one who owns it an ‘administrator of Providence.’”

“The possession of goods is an opportunity to multiply them with creativity and use them with generosity, and thus grow in love and freedom,” he said.

Quoting the catechism, Pope Francis said, “Man, using created goods, must consider the external things that he legitimately possesses, not only as his own, but also as common, in the sense that they can benefit not only him but also others.”

The pope’s remarks on entrepreneurship and ownership came during a reflection on the seventh commandment, “Thou shall not steal.” In recent months, Pope Francis has dedicated his weekly general audiences to a series of lessons and reflections on the Ten Commandments recorded in the scriptural books of Exodus and Deuteronomy.

Frank is so dim he still hasn’t figured out that EVERYTHING socialists/communists like him wish to “redistribute” is produced by capitalism.

Evidently he believes “equality” is when everybody is starving ala Venezuela.

We have forced generosity in America with our possessions, Francis.

It’s called the I.R.S.

The Pope should be talking about how greed, AND envy, and hatred, and the desire to covet, are all human weaknesses, and how no group of people has a lock on virtue. He should be talking about all of us trying to understand one another, and forgiving one another, instead of talking about specific socioeconomic issues that have multiple sides and no easy solutions.

Charity comes from the heart, and is a good work - particularly if done in private. Confiscation, irrespective of whether at the barrel of a gun or on the authority of government is theft, and neither honorable or defensible.

Once he sells those billions of dollars in artifacts beneath the Vatican I will start to listen to his socialist babble.

Franciscus is a duplicitous Marxist, “ *“What is lacking is a free and far-sighted entrepreneurship, which ensures adequate production, and a solidarity approach, which ensures fair distribution,”.*

That is simply CommieSpeak. He tries to twist the meaning of a passage from scripture implying that Communism, not Catholicism, should be our priority. ‘Papa’ is pathetic.

Yes, that is a problem. Since the pope is so concerned, maybe he can start selling off all the gold, jewels, paintings, real estate, sculptures, stock portfolios, all the billions of dollars in wealth accumulated by his church. After he liquidates its assets, and donates it all to the poor, he can then live like Christ.

Or is he telling us to liquidate our assets? That's a different story. Hey pope, this is what leadership is all about. Lead by example!

"Francis stressed. “The ownership of a good makes the one who owns it an ‘administrator of Providence.’”"

pope: have a garage sale, advertise on craigslist all the junk laying around the vatican.

Donate proceeds to needy.

“Confiscation, irrespective of whether at the barrel of a gun or on the authority of government....”

There isn’t very much difference between the two, except that the ladder one looks prettier at the beginning. However, if you fail to pay your taxes, the guys with the guns will definitely show up on your doorstep.

Quit pretending Population Control is the mission of the Church!

Provide third world countries with energy production, Desalinization plants, Water Wells, farming and agriculture.

Quit bribing the poor with food in exchange for contraception and abortion.

Help them to become self sufficient rather than dependent!

Let those countries benefit from their own natural resources rather than stealing from them!

I think, after five years, Francis is finally realizing his socialist/communist overtures are hurting his pocketbook.

Evidently he believes “equality” is when everybody is starving ala Venezuela.

That IS how they feel...look at North Korea - and East Germany (before unity). The commie side is thuggy and poor and people starve to death - and the capitalist sides are wealthy and people don't starve OR go hungry.
