Will Christian's get lost teeth, limbs, etc in heaven?
foreverfree | 11/8/18 | foreverfree

Posted on 11/08/2018 8:17:55 PM PST by foreverfree

In a few days, my 81 yo mother will be going to an oral surgeon to have two rotted rear teeth removed. In mid December, my dentist will extract a split tooth of mine. (I'd have it done sooner if not for my commuting schedule and the fact that she is booked solid on the only day of the week I'm available for the next few weeks.)

My mom and I are believing Christians (MO Synod Lutherans). Will we Christians get our lost body parts back when God takes us home? Please cite Scripture.

I ask this because my belief that we will have perfect bodies in heaven was shaken by a conversation my mom and I about that verse in Revelation “Behold I will make everything new”. Does that verse include the saved souls?

I ran a question to that effect past mom and she said (perhaps not paying attention), “I don’t think God’s worried about that.” This has shaken my faith.

Will my mom and I lose the teeth we’ve lost and are about to lose for eternity? What about amputees such as my mom’s aunt/my great aunt, who died in her 80’s in 1981, legless and blind from diabetes? Will they remain limbless in heaven?

Please help me on this.

I’d be happy if I had my 25 year old body back. ;o)

Bodies rot and return to dust...some are cremated and other blown to smithereens...they will all become whole and healthy and without flaw.

That's why I never understood the objection to cremation some religions had. If we dig up a grave from 100 years ago all that's left is dust anyway!

I definitely believe your resurrection body will be complete and perfect. If someone who was cremated gets their whole body back (and they must) then I believe everyone else does also.

Scripture says that the sea will "give up her dead" at the resurrection. Imagine what happens to a dead body in the ocean - it's not long before it becomes fish and crab food. ;o)

Matthew 25:21 King James Version (KJV)

His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Hmmmm. Not seeing anything about becoming a "never ending orgasm of happiness." Weird.

Even that weird, malformed extra tooth that I wasn’t supposed to have that they had to dig out from behind my nose?

Nope. Christ had a resurrection body that was recognizable but also changed. He could eat if He wished but could also appear and disappear inside locked rooms. We will be as He is ... in a resurrected perfected body. God created the material world for us. He will make it new and perfect but will never do away with it leaving us floating in some nebulous mist

The most - only? - profound post on this thread.

It seems to me that if anyone is ‘afraid’ over any of the promises of Jesus, those promises haven’t been explained to them correctly.

‘Worries’ go entirely counter to the truth that Jesus taught.

Thanks, xone and everybody. I will fear not, for if tomorrow will take care of itself, so will the day of the Lord - in what we will look like in His presence and everything else.

Anthropology of human is a body, soul, and spirit.

While out present bodies are corrupted even from the Garden of Eden, our future bodies will not be so corrupted.

I suspect it will take a millennium for us to improve the scarred soul.

With all respect, you seem to be kind of mixed-up.

I’m not sure that anthropology, as a science, has ever recognized ‘soul and spirit’.

Those are issues of religion and spiritual belief.

(The idea that a soul can be ‘scarred’ seems to me to be a belief rooted in materialism.)

Since God made man, He might know a little more about anthropology than man-made science. Study Scripture to better understand what comprises a human as opposed to angels or other creatures.

And how does ‘scripture’ explain differences between humans and angels; and what do you mean by ‘other creatures’?

Please respond with regard to morphology, taxonomy, &c.

Bart: Um, Ma'm. What if you're a really good person but you're in a really really bad fight and your leg gets gangrene and it has to be amputated. Will it be waiting for you in heaven?

Teacher: For the last time Bart, yes!

**********

Teacher: The ventriliquist goes to heaven but the dummy doesn't.

Bart: What about a robot with a human brain?

Teacher: I don't know! All these questions! Is a little blind faith too much to ask!?

“2. Any question answered by Jesus concerning marriage in Heaven will necessarily also be valid for questions concerning sex in Heaven - and vice-versa.”

nowhere does the bible say that. that is 100% your assumptions. you know what they say about assuming things.

“But if you can find a better quote by Jesus concerning sex in Heaven, then I invite you to provide it.”

i don’t have to prove anything, since i am not claiming jesus said anything about sex in heaven. you are claiming jesus said something about sex in heaven, so you do have to prove something. so far, you’ve got jesus talking about heaven but no mention whatsoever of sex. that is about as weak as an argument gets.

by all means insert “sex” wherever you want, but remember, inserting words or deleting words is specifically prohibited by the bible. so you lose.

:-)

here is your argument in its full logical glory.

1. my wife makes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for me on earth.

2. but on heaven, my wife will not make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for me.

3. because, jesus said so.

4. yes, i know jesus did not specifically mention peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but if you find a better quote by jesus concerning peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in heaven, then i invite you to provide it.

the lesson for you is not to put words into the bible or take words out of the bible.

all the best!

2. but on [sic] heaven, my wife will not make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for me.

You will not have a wife in Heaven. Justification: Matthew 22:30.

"For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."
