[Catholic Caucus] What Catholics can do who’ve lost faith in their bishops and even the pope
LifeSiteNews ^ | November 16, 2018 | Shane Schaetzel

It’s finally happened. Now that the US Bishops Conference is over, and absolutely nothing was done to combat the crisis of homosexual abuse and cover up within the US Catholic Church, I can finally say I’ve lost faith. No, I haven’t lost faith in Jesus Christ. No, I haven’t lost faith in the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. No, I haven’t lost faith in the Creed, or the sacraments, or the teachings of the Church. No, I haven’t even lost faith in the Catholic Church herself. What I have lost faith in is the hierarchy of bishops, and their ability to solve problems collectively.

I have also lost faith in the pope. No, I’m not denying the papacy of Francis. I acknowledge him as the real pope, just as I acknowledge the hierarchy as real bishops. Rather, I’ve lost faith in him as a person, and in his ability to lead the Church. The Barque of Peter has become a rudderless vessel, not because there is no pope, but because the pope is too distracted to steer the ship. By saying I’ve lost faith in Francis, I’m saying I have no confidence in Francis as a leader. So he receives a “vote of no confidence” from me...

... Too many former Catholics tell me they’ve lost faith entirely, and they often cite the leadership of the Church as their reason why. Their complaints are legitimate, but their solution is absurd. If you’re one of those people reading this right now, this is for you…

Don’t leave Christ because of Judas.

This is an excellent article, with lots of excellent ideas.

I heard that some parisoners are putting two pennies taped to a post card into the collection basket, as a sort of protest. After reading this article, I wonder if a plausible protest for those who cannot find a suitable parish is to drop an envelope in the basket with a card that reads "I will follow Christ but not finance Judas. Viva Viganò!"

Everyone needs to read the article.

And then act.

I was wondering why no one has (until now) even begun to address any action for the praying faithful to take. The suffering is so serious and so grievous, in this seemingly endless level of crisis in the Church, that it is not unreasonable for thoughts to wonder about the Two Pope’s question.

This one shields deviants and worse. How can he be Pope and skate complicity in these abominations?

Great defense against a bad situation, however, if your parish situation is good (orthodox priest, etc) offer to pay the electrical bill or the trash bill or such, these things keep your money in your parish. Also, give Father gas cards and cash for Christmas, he doesn’t need another box of candy.

“I have lost faith in is the hierarchy of bishops.”

Join the club. I lost faith in the council of bishops once upon a time like around 1985 when the council built a two million dollar office in Washington, DC. Losers. Why not meet at a local high school gym or a hotel ballroom for annual meetings?

Bishops Today? Spoiled teen agers who are stuck in vice and ruled by fear.

The Bible explains it all and the Lord has seen His ship get stolen by spoiled brats before many times.

I still think these are rather passive actions. My understanding is that during the Arian heresy lay people would block church entrances preventing heretical priests and bishops from entering.

Now you comprehend what Episcopalians who have left the Church have gone through.

An excellent idea!

Resist and rejoice. God put us here --- put us in place by the wisdom of His providence --- right here, right now . We were made for such a time as this.

Again I say, resist and rejoice. Stand firm.

We are all called, as best we are able, to support the work of the Church and care for the poor.

The Church is "We the People", the mystical Body of Christ ... not a 501(c)(3) corporation chartered in some US State.

Plenty of ways to join with other Catholics, both personally and financially, in ways that miscreant Bishops can't get their dirty hands on your dough.

Start with your local Pregnancy Center. For example.

Same reasons I left the Episcopal Church. “Organized” religion (religion organized by man, not God) will be the downfall of any “church”.

“By saying I’ve lost faith in Francis, I’m saying I have no confidence in Francis as a leader. So he receives a “vote of no confidence” from me.”

Bergoglio like most Jesuits lost the faith years ago. No Christian obsessed with homosexuality believes in Christ. None of these sodomites destroying the faith believe in anything but their own perversions. Not a one believes in the Real Presence. All have apostatized, including the fraud who claims to be the pope.

"Now you comprehend what Episcopalians who have left the Church have gone through."

I am an Episcopalian who left the Anglican Heresy and joined the Catholic Church. It "is" possible to find a Novus Ordo parish which is reverent (and not the "Reverent" version shown at the linked article....which is almost motion for motion what the "old" Episcopal High Church ceremony was in which I grew up).

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is an excellent way to do this.

Leaving the Catholic Church and leaving Christ are not synonymous.

Indeed, the current Church hierarchy are leaving those who truly do want to follow Christ little choice but to leave.

We cannot in good conscience continue to support them. Particularly with our money, which is just going to pay lawyers and spin-doctors to continue to perpetrate the lies.

An official schism and split in the Catholic Church is inevitable IMHO.

I was thinking of that as I wrote. That’s a given, for sure. My phone won’t “paragraph” so I didn’t go on to state the first crime. Thanks for stating it, here.

And there you have the reasons for the Protestant Reformation in Europe and ongoing religious strife in England over centuries. For example the Puritans and others did not want bishops or a church hierarchy. They wanted an English language bible so they could pray to God directly and not need a Latin spouting intercessor. Some of the first creators of the English bible were executed or persecuted. Must not get rid of your religious bosses.
