“And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:29-31).
However, one need understand more than just the letter here . . .
Loving the Lord thy God with all thy heart entails accepting the Gospel of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and getting saved so that you can truly profess that God is your father (prior to that everyone’s father is Satan, the father of lies).
Loving your neighbour as thyself, if you are saved, entails wanting him to be saved also and then witnessing to him about the mighty power of Christ to save their souls from a burning hell through His shed Blood.
So, the first command is salvation.
the second command is to be a witness.
And this can only be accomplished by one message . . .
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (I Corinthians 15:1-4).
This is the Gospel we are to preach. Anything else is accursed according to Paul (speaking for God).
Galatians 1:6-10).
