VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Men with deep-rooted homosexual tendencies should not be admitted to the Catholic clergy, and it would be better for priests who are actively gay to leave rather than lead a double life, Pope Francis says in a new book.

I would take it one step further and say all Gays and Pedophiles should leave the Priesthood simply because controlling those urges will be next to impossible with so many temptations around them.
All it takes if for one to make the news buggering a boy and it makes the entire Catholic Church look like a pedo club.

Guess the Pope finally realized that it is indeed his job to judge. If he is serious about purging homosexuals from the clergy, he will begin by disbanding the Jesuit order.
The Pope needs to man up, so to speak, and take direct action.
What’s with his 180 degree turn on this? Or has he gone totally off the rails and this is just something the Vatican issued and not his words?

The cynical side of me says that attendance and offerings must be really down.

He said it in print BEFORE Vigano accused the whole kit ‘n’ kaboodle. Why don’t I believe this? (Had to double-check to see if Pope Benedict XVI was being quoted). Perhaps this will be the extend of his taking a stand, such as it is. I don’t see much fire in the belly at the top.

The real problem is that they molest children.
Any society or institution which prohibits or frowns on normal male-female relationships is going to attract people who aren’t interested in normal male-female relationships. There’s a reason the Catholic priesthood attracts so many gay men and pedophiles, and that reason is the celibacy requirement. Saying they should leave isn’t going to make them leave - at this point there are probably too many in positions of power sheltering and covering for those who get caught.
Seems like a classic Peronist head fake. Say what you think will satisfy your internal critics at the moment, and, meanwhile, full steam ahead with your program of destroying the Church from within.
There's Francis, and there's the other Francis that shares the same body, that's how.
Celibate is not biblical, shut it pope, read a Bible and maybe the holy spirit will speak to you and you can be saved.
