Bishop Caggiano Appoints Leftist Feminist Woman to Lead Priestless Parish

Bishop Frank Caggiano of the Bridgeport, Connecticut diocese is appointing a self-described "modernist" "feminist" laywoman to head a parish.

Nine months after the death of Fr. John Baran, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua parish in Fairfield, the bishop announced that, in lieu of appointing a new pastor, he is assigning the leadership role of the parish to Dr. Eleanor W. Sauers.

In his letter to the parish announcing a "new leadership model," Caggiano wrote that he spent a "great deal of time in prayer and discernment … to discern who should follow Fr. Baran as your pastoral leader."

This discernment included his observation that "many lay women and men are seeking new ways to serve their parishes, and, in collaboration with the clergy, to create vibrant and thriving communities."

As such, Caggiano — identified as a leading contender to replace Cdl. Donald Wuerl as archbishop of Washington, D.C. — decided to appoint Sauers as Parish Life Coordinator of St. Anthony of Padua parish.

Sauers displays a strong affinity for the political Left, "liking" the pages of socialist Bernie Sanders, pro-abort Elizabeth Warren and homosexualist Fr. James Martin, S.J.

Sauers' path to becoming the newly appointed Parish Life Coordinator with "decision-making authority" is the fulfillment of work she began 16 years ago. In 2002, Dr. Sauers followed Fr. Baran to St. Anthony's from his previous assignment at Our Lady of the Assumption parish on the other side of town. Within a few short months, Baran made her the director for religious education.

In 2007, Sauers wrote about her experiences and her work in transforming what had been a very tradition-minded parish into a haven of modernism.

She wrote, "Allocating responsibilities broadly among parishioners and staff produces a more balanced and effective ministry, and keeps the burdens (and privileges) of leadership from concentrating on any one individual."

And so, the one individual who's main task is to CONSECRATE THE BREAD INTO THE BODY OF CHRIST, well she won't need him.

This parish will experience a complete walkout of real Catholics replaced by witches.

Not surprising. Feminism at its core is an anti- fertility cult and very compatible with homosexuality. Corrupt gay clergy have achieved high office within the Church. They are now openly propagating their poison. Soon it will be up to a faithful remnant to rebuild and rekindle what was once was.

I wonder if she’s one of the one who’ve been secretly “ordained” as “priests.”

That’s what these radical Leftists are heading towards, it seems!

I’m sure that she “transformed” the parish from a tradition – minded one to a modernist one by driving away all the traditionalists. I doubt that she succeeded in changing anyone’s mind.

Many bishops in the United States are seeking clergy from different countries to fill vacancies created by the lack of vocations.
My parish has a priest chosen as its pastor from SriLanka the former island colony off of India known as Ceylon. Other parishes in my diocese of LaCrosse WI also have priests from African and Asian countries. My brother tells me that is also happening in Chicago.

In his letter to the parish announcing a "new leadership model," Caggiano wrote that he spent a "great deal of time in prayer and discernment

He cleared it with his master, Satan.

Catholic numbers hold up only because of immigration. Considering church attendance and vocation, the Catholic Church in the United States is rapidly shrinking. The liberal Protestant churches are beyond resuscitation. Contrariwise, conservative Protestant churches are doing fine.

As are Conservative Catholic Churches. In my church, we observe the traditional Latin rite, and our growth is such that we are building a new church to accommodate the growth.

Thank you, JoeA, for pointing out that Catholic parishes that adhere to traditions teachings and customs of the church are doing well. The same is true of diocese. My Italian grandfather once told me he believed in the church but not in the priests. He was something of a syndicalist, if you know to what that refers. We should pray for the church, as well as for our country, for revival, and for the truth.

If this is a Catholic church, I sure would find another and walk away.

Our parish had a fabulous Priest from India. Unfortunately he passed away a couple of years ago.

I belonged to a parish in Michigan that had no pastor, and for whom a nun had been named as administrator. She was quite traditional though. No injection of Leftist nonsense.

‘Motivate, correct and affirm’ is replacing ‘teach, govern and sanctify.’

Frivolity is replacing dignity, emotions are sought instead of grace, beauty is exchanged for banality.

What group and where? My Uncle's very high up in the FSSP and he said it's very difficult for them to add churches. There is a single church in the dfw area, with ~8MM people. Been trying to get him to put one out in Rockwall, but apparently it has no chance with our bishop..

Forgot to mention above, the single church is about an hour away, and always completely packed. People standing in the lobby... Every Sunday.
