If the right kind of powerful people wanted you destroyed, and produced witnesses against you, possibly through bribery or intimidation, leading to your conviction for a crime you didn’t commit ... if that were to happen, I would hope for your sake that the appeal process you seem eager to deny Pell would then be available to you.
I’ve never believed the accusations against Pell. There’s nothing in his background that suggests he’s a homosexual. 20% of accusations against Catholic priests have been found to be false. The usual motive is a payday, though that’s not the only reason. A man dying of AIDS years ago accused Cardinal Bernardin of Chicago of abuse but retracted before their deaths.
