Thanks for the post.
What a beautiful way to enter the heart of Christmas!
I started listening to this as I lay down Christmas Eve, then finished listening before I rose. In a beautiful sweep, it captures The Fall of man; and the foreshadowing, prophecies, birth, and worship of our Redeemer.
Not advertised is the crazy, pipe-organ finale! Maybe a bit un-Christmas-y when compared to what precedes it, but it reminded me of the fearsome, tumultuous coming of the Almighty as depicted in the Psalms He being wrapped in dark, roiling clouds, powerful flashes of lighting, and deafening thunder. Pretty effective!
Thank you for sharing this!
There were two organ pieces at the end,..the first was JS Bach In dulci Jubilo, the second was called Pièces de Fantaisie en quatre suites Livre II op. 53: Toccata by Louis Vierne (1870-1937). A big send off for the recessional. The organist was an organ scholar of the college most likely aiming to impress a huge international radio audience with a virtuoso organ work.:)
