Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It was Autumn of 1981, and hubby and I were out on the bike (2-up on a 1971 Honda CB350 LOLOL! The Harleys came later.) when we decided to rest at Houghton's Pond in The Blue Hills near Boston. It was past season, so the concession stand was closed and the park was empty. We sat down on a big flat rock by the pond and enjoyed the sunshine and scenery as the colorful leaves reflected in the placid water, forming a colorful mirror image. A friend had given me a Bible (NASB) which I had never read in depth, so I turned to a Chapter with an unfamiliar name and began reading out loud. It was Colossians, and to this day, whenever I read that Book, I am sitting once again, on a rock at Houghton's Pond, in the Autumn Sunshine, with my lifelong friend and hubby Mike.

I'll never know why I had never heard of the Epistle before, but it is my favorite of Paul's letters, for obvious reasons.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
