N.M. has a bill to mimic the Virginia execution of just born infants. This is in a sixty percent plus Hispanic Catholic state. Guess Catholics are jumping on the kill the baby wagon in droves.
Would Cuomo really care? It’s all about the votes, and his voter base might not care at all if he’s an official part of the Church. IMHO, of course.
Heck, given what words have come out of the Pope’s mouth recently, maybe he told Cuonmo to do that.

I suggest the Very Rev. Dolan google two names: Archbishop Joseph Rummel and Leander Perez.
The good Cardinal is half right, excommunication is not just about punishment. It is about returningbthe sinner to the right path. Excommunication is used especially when the acts of yhe sinner can lead others to follow.
Cardinal Dolan told the Fox & Friends audience that he wants to deal with the Catholic baby killers “according to the Gospel.” What is really needed is a strong preaching of the law of God that says, “Thou shalt not kill.”
That commandment has not been rescinded by wishful thinking. And Jesus warned His followers that there really is a Hell, where there is “weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
The guv is going to Hell with or without the spineless church having to do anything about it.
Dolan does not do Cuomo any favors by ignoring and brushing aside what he did.
Excommunication is necessary in order for the sinner to realize his sins and hopefully repent and be reunited in fellowship with the church once again.
Not exercising this discipline simply encourages all sinful catholics to continue in their ways.
The pro-life movement is missing the boat. Trump controls the 2020 census. A new feature should be added to the Census Questionaire.

Is the pregnant person carrying a baby or a tissue growth?
If the household answers that the pregnant person is carrying a baby, it is counted as a person.
If the pregnant person is carrying a tissue growth then it is not counted as a person.
This gives pro-life communities that have babies an edge in population count and the political representation and money that comes with increased population.
What about Nancy Pelosi?

A person who helps to secure abortion is in the eyes of God ex-communicaed from His Church.
Formal ex-communication only works when a person is able to fear eternal damnation, which hasn't happened for at least 500 years - it was designed to help the person to see the error of their ways and seek repentance.
If Governor Cujo did fear God and eternal damnation he would never have placed his hat into the pro-death camp. His punishment will be even greater due to the responsibility associated with his act.
It also works to make clear to the faithful that the person's public behavior is gravely sinful and should not be imitated or emulated.
When is Cardinal Dolan going to get some intestinal fortitude and excommunicate Governor Cuomo? It must be done. Cuomo is not a Catholic. Why treat him like a decent Catholic? Oust him now!
