A friend knows a guy who was in seminary for the priesthood.
He was gay and said that seminary was so bad in that regard, that he quit it.
He also told her that in his culture, being single was not acceptable so all the gays would enter the seminary because that way they could remain single without the stigma. Then mom could brag, *My son, the priest*, instead of making excuses for not getting married, which is a stigma.
Yeah it was a stigma back in the days. Today? Not so much.
