I think in the past (over 100 years ago) people did not live that long. So of course you had a lot of straight priests. But as people lived longer and longer, what’s in it for straight guys? So naturally, the priests are gay because it’s the perfect place to stay in the closet, so to speak. Just my two cents.

The only surprise here is that 1 in 5 are straight. They're the ones that use convents as their own personal brothel. The Vatican actually shut one of those convents down the other day. Apparently word got out as its more nefarious purpose.
