One of my favorite hymns — but horrid to play on the piano for some reason.

I’m not sure how the English version translates from the original, but the English is beautiful. I think the title of the original strictly translates to “A Strong Tower”, or similar.

German original (according to Wikipedia--presumably the spelling has been modernized):

Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott
ein gute Wehr und Waffen.
Er hilft uns frei aus aller Not
die uns jetzt hat betroffen.
Der alte bo+se Feind
mit Ernst er's jetzt meint
gross macht und viel List
sein grausam Ru+stung ist
auf Erd ist nichts seins gleichen.

(The + after a vowel means it is an umlaut)
