FULL TITLE: Utah teacher could face disciplinary action after forcing boy to remove Ash Wednesday cross from his forehead
A Utah elementary school teacher may face disciplinary action after she made a fourth-grade boy wipe off the Ash Wednesday cross on his forehead.
William McLeod arrived for class at Valley View Elementary School in Bountiful on Wednesday with the traditional Ash cross to commemorate the Christian holy day.
But William said he was the only student in his class with the cross on his forehead and that his teacher quickly came up and asked him what it was.
'I was like, "It's Ash Wednesday and I'm Catholic. It's the first day of Lent,'" William told KSTU. 'She was like, "No, it's inappropriate, go take it off."'

These people interpret “Freedom of Religion” as “Freedom FROM Religion”. They feel the Constitution requires them to stomp on any Christian expression of faith.

This is so wrong. Single out the kid, force him to remove it, humiliate him. Teacher should be fired but is probably tenured,
so that won’t happen.
The student should sue the teacher, school and school board for violating his first and fourteenth amendment rights of the student.
But you can where a hajib, or get your female genitals mutilated, that’s OK.
If this had been a muslim kid wearing a hijab you know she would never have done this!

The teacher and staff need some “sensitivity training,” concerning Christianity. Also, perhaps a History lesson. Western Civilization with an emphasis on the Roman Empire and Medieval Western Christendom and the Reformation.
This teacher is unfit to be a teacher. She is too biased to work logically.
I was raised Pentecostal in a small town full of Pentecostals and Baptist. My first real office job one of the gals showed up with dirt on her forehead. Yeah. I said it out loud. Didn’t have a clue. My supervisor just laughed and told me what it was.
Or, she comes from either a low-church Pootestant or non-Christian-Mormon backgound and had never seen it.
Believe it or not there are a lot of people that have no idea RC members do this.

How is this “an establishment of religion”
She has denied this Catholic boy the freedom exercise of
his religion. He has not hurt or forced any other student their rights to worship(or not)
(And no, I’m not a Catholic but I recognise denial of freedom of religion when I see it )
