Exactly, Slyfox.

In personal morality, the late-medieval and renaissance popes were much worse than the present pope, who seems not to be a drunkard, lecher, or a bloody-handed tyrant: not personally, though he unquestionably allie with and promotes men caught up in this sort of vice.

But in church governance, fidelity to the doctrines of the Faith, and upholding the Eternal Moral Law, Pope Francis falls disastrously short.

Actually, no, it's worse than "falling short," which suggests mere deficiency. There has never, ever, in the history of the Church, another pope who has been diligently, tirelessly bent upon the decontruction of doctrine.

He is, dedicately and with amazing enrgy, coordinating the controlled demolition of Catholicism.

The Lord will rescue His Bride, but it might take --- who knows? --- the nuking of Rome? That might e, it seems, the necessary and sufficient scale of the "cure."

May God have mercy.

In the meantime, we wait --- pray --- fast -- and watch.

You folks are right. He is likely the worst pope ever. There have been other bad popes who were personally quite sinful — undoubtedly much more morally compromised personally than Francis, but he’s the first pope who has come into the job and covertly and overly attempted to jettison perennial Church teachings that he personally dislikes. He’s the first pope who see it as his job not to preserve and promote Church teachings but rather to junk them. Sexual morality, the death penalty, marriage indissolubility — he views Church teachings in many areas as hopelessly outdated, disagreeable, pharisaical and inconsistent with the merciful Jesus of the Gospel, and, as such, he believes that it’s his job to assign said teachings to the ash heap of history. It’s truly unprecedented. There has never been a pope like this before.
