On Saturday, Vice President Mike Pence spoke to the 2019 graduates of Liberty University.
While many commencement speakers wish the graduates a bright and glorious future, Pence issued a dire warning.
He told the students that for most of Americas history, there was no problem being a Christian, but times have changed.
He continued to tell the graduates that in todays America to be prepared to be ridiculed and shunned because of their Christian faith.

Seems like we've finally arrived at Christian persecution in America. Luke 9:26
Prepare to be BEAT UP ON..?
You want HIM in your foxhole?
Trump would never say this in a million years:
He’d go on the offense, not wait around to be made a victim.
He has good hair & manners —exactly what we need to NOT have, right now.
Gimme a really dirty fighter, that’s what I want.
Your post resembles something a muslim would say.
Already happening. "The World" hated Our Lord, it hates us because of Him.
The comments on The Hill bear him out
I never thought America would ever come to this.
“Trump would never say this in a million years: He’d go on the offense, not wait around to be made a victim.”
You’ve hit upon a salient issue.
Have Christians been duped into a milquetoast perversion of their own faith?
It seems the founders and various Christian sects that emigrated here from Europe struggled with this issue when it comes to how to respond to the abuses of Great Britain.
If Christians ever come to the conclusion it is our duty to take up the sword and defend our faith from persecution, it would be a real game-changer in the politics of the world.
Christians would NEVER justify the things that large segments of Islam embrace or at least tolerate: suicide bombings, terrorism, rape, murder, theft, etc. But that does not preclude the use of force in general. We certainly do not believe in spreading our religion by the sword, but it might not be such a bad idea to defend it with the sword.

How about: Prepare to become and raise Christian Warriors to fight the evil that is coming and save the world yet again.
Interesting note: Pence and his wife are baptized Catholics and met at church as young adults.
You are probably right unfortunately.

It’s one thing to defend your faith and family and church from violent attacks. A whole other issue is killing “in the name of Christ” - which is a huge sin.
The two are hardly the same.
That is interesting.
Another interesting fact is that for about the last 30-40 years the biggest converts to “Evangelical Christianity” were former Roman Catholics. I’m one of them too.
Lately, Jews have been converting in droves.
Time to bring back the Knights Templar.

It seems the post-Reformation era of Christianity generally concurs.
However, when it comes to Christians supporting war, the lines blur somewhat. For example, many Christians, including myself, supported W’s Gulf War. I came to regret it later. Yes, we removed a dictator who funded terrorism. But it led to hundreds of thousands of Christians being displaced and killed.
On the other hand, what should Christians do who live in a nation that seems to be heading toward something very much like what Hitler did in Germany?
If we see our government rounding up Jews and Christians and sending them to concentration camps, should we resist or run?
What is the red line?
I like Pence but he didn’t seem prepared for persecution when as Governor of Indiana he buckled to the San Francisco Apple gay agenda when it brought pressure to bear in the state.
There are a few red lines. Not giving to idols and being forced to worship other ‘gods’ should be one of those. Preserving innocent human life should be another.
Acts 5:29
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
You posed two very good questions. I think we resist gov’t on both of those. Turn the other cheek Christians will incorrectly quote Romans 13 and claim we should just fold. This debate has been going on for almost 2,000 years among Christians and it won’t get settled until Christ returns.
