FULL TITLE: Dozens of students walk out of graduation ceremony in protest moments before Vice President Mike Pence delivers commencement speech at Christian school Taylor University
Dozens of Indiana college students walked out of Vice President Mike Pence's commencement speech at Taylor University's graduation ceremony this weekend.
Moments before Pence took to the podium at the Christian school's graduation ceremony in his home state of Indiana on Saturday, dozens of students walked out in protest.
While a majority of the faculty and class of 494 students remained seated for the speech, many wore stickers on their caps saying 'We are Taylor too', as their form of silent protest and to support marginalized people hurt by the Trump administration.
'I think his presence makes it difficult for everyone at Taylor to feel welcomed, ' student Laura Rathburn, who walked out during Pence's speech and decorated her cap in rainbow colors with the message 'Ally Visible for Those Who Can't Be', said to the Indy Star.
'For me personally, I think we should identify as Christians first before we have political ties,' student Katie Tupper said on wearing the sticker. 'That might not be a good choice for everyone but I think that we struggle a lot at Taylor in trying not to raise our political views. ... The purpose of this is to recognize that we're all a part of Taylor.'
The 59-year-old conservative urged the graduates to hold on to their religious resolve, praised Trump's administration and touted the promising job market and low unemployment rate.

Thank you
Victims of the K-12 lobotomy...
Well, human beings have been given the right to make choices by God Himself.
If you read through the “What we believe” page of the school website you will find their beliefs to be main-stream Christian beliefs.
Should they have removed these libertines from the ceremony, absolutely yes, but don’t tar the whole school because a tiny minority decided to side with the devil.
When I was in college (I didn’t go to Taylor, but I grew up about half an hour away), the view was there were pretty much two kinds of people who went to Taylor: devout Christians, and people there on sports scholarships who made a point to be conspicuously, devoutly non-Christian.
They should keep walking till they end up in a different country
“Dozens”
Venezuela suits them just fine.
How many stayed to here the address?
Was it more than then number that walked out in protest?
I counted about 75 that walked out. Interesting how the News outlet cut the video just before Pence got a very big applause.
I guess “Ally Visible for Those Who Can’t Be” doesn’t go out and support the murdered unborn.
Some of the faculty were deeply involved.
That’s unconscionable!
The gays?
The kind that has reduce the Christian experience to one of being nice.
Brainwashed simpletons.
Kids dont get these attitudes in a vacuum. The education system certainly swings left even many Christian Colleges. The call for tolerance has lead many young ones to tolerate anything but Biblical Christianity.
they should put that (walking out) on their future resume, so future employers will know these people will walk out if they don’t like some thing instead of showing respect for the opportunity afforded them to be present and maybe to learn soemthing or at least listen to opposing views/ideas. These kids walking out are not the signs of future good negotiators or workers or leaders, just signs of spoiled, selfish “all about me” type people which our country has more than enough already.
When they don’t agree with their boss during a meeting in a future job will they walk out?
We believe in global interdependence, implying the need to graduate individuals capable of functioning as global citizens.
