Well, as the well-thought Christian centrist I believed myself to be, I just managed to offend a Christian gal who was talking, for all the world, like a screaming liberal of the secular persuasion. It was about the prospective end of a refugee program for resettlement in the USA. I tried to tell her that it is a culture issue, not a racial issue, but I might as well have tried to talk to a wall, lol.
Such a thing could actually WORK if it was well vetted enough. Donald Trump spoke of the "big, beautiful door" that he wanted to be in his Wall. But does it have to mean a USA waypoint right off the bat for those being aided? It would seem to me that having a waypoint encampment in Mexico, with Mexico's permission (and if it's lucrative enough for Mexico, that permission might not be hard to get) would be just the thing for preparing people culturally to go through that "big, beautiful door" -- and to do it in a way that conservatives are not getting their hair on fire (or even smoldering) about it.
But to do it, the advocates can't be sounding like our tiresome screaming liberals of the secular persuasion. That's to try to transfer a failed plan, lock stock and barrel, into Christianity, where it would also fail.
The reaction was so visceral that I had to laugh. My dear Lord. Please furnish this gal with a mirror. Then when she calms down, let's talk about politics, the art of the possible.

I mean, by all means point out every fault. I’m not scared of it. I may have forgotten to dot an I, or cross a T. But wanting to care about EVERYBODY is not a thing I have lapsed, and that’s of Christ. Christ never came in left and right varieties. There is but one Christ.

Good grief. Some people get offended and can’t even see one foot in front of their noses. There are often many ways to the same ultimate goal.
If I didn’t laugh it off, I’d fume. Good Christian friends have advised me to laugh such outrage off. It’s not to mock “her” in an ad hominem (feminem?) way. It’s to mock the attitude that she bought into. There is a difference.
But again... women are so often emotion. And if a guy walks up to one in the throes of it and says Ma’am, there is a better way to achieve the goal you seem to treasure... he’s likely to get the “The Female Of The Species Is More Deadly Than The Male” treatment (kudos to Kipling for that one). “Scientific dissection of each nerve until it’s raw!”
Is it better to fume at such a gal, or to snicker at her under my breath?

It’s a good post imho. Very good actually. Welcome and don’t be deterred by contentious folk as I’m guessing you won’t.
Getting past all the emotion seems to be the key to any kind of constructive end to this thing. I don’t object on principle to Christian immigration aid programs if they are done on the up-and-up both spiritually and legally and politically. But negotiating that minefield isn’t for those who are offended at once. And this gal is going to get just MOWED down by the conservative half of the USA. FR would turn her into a vapor. I’m trying to save the baby, believe it or not. But she won’t believe it.
