Mother Miriam urges parents: pull kids from public school<br> ‘I don’t know of anything more urgent’

During her daily live show yesterday [Aug 19], Mother Miriam challenged parents to uphold their duty as primary educators of their children. She alerted parents to the fact that today’s schools are filled with evil and that it is the first and foremost duty of parents to protect their kids.

“It has to do with you being a proper mom and dad to your children...You, no matter what the situation is, are responsible for the growth of your children in faith,” she said.

You can watch Mother’s program LIVE every day at 10am EST on the Mother Miriam Live Facebook page. Click here to watch!

Yesterday’s warning about the public school system is the first installment in a series of shows Mother is doing reflecting on a book written by Mary Rice Hasson, JD, and Theresa Farnan, PhD, Get out Now: Why You Should Pull Your Child from Public School Before It's Too Late, and the summary of the book in Crisis magazine. You can tune in to her upcoming shows here at 10 a.m. EST, or hear her past shows here.

It isn’t news that public schools instill godless values and beliefs in our children, but they are quickly becoming places of indoctrination and evil, Mother noted.

“The public schools,” she reflected. “Such evil has penetrated those schools.”

Many states now force gender ideology and pornographic sex-education on students.

In almost every subject, students are being fed the lie, sometimes subtly and sometimes not, that there is no God. Mother Miriam quotes Get out Now: “The case of Atheism in school has produced the most godless generation in history. Moral relativism has left more than 2/3 of people without a belief in truth and objective right and wrong.”

In addition to the terrible curricula being taught in schools, Mother emphasizes the mentality that modern schools instill in children. Mother again quotes Get out Now: “We are left with a system designed to turn the hearts and minds of the children away from God.”

Mother calls on all parents to bring their children home. She encourages parents of all education, income, and social levels to homeschool their children. She highlights the common claim that homeschooling isn’t for everybody. She again challenges parents, saying it is not only possible, but necessary, for everyone to homeschool their children: “Too much is at stake. You don’t get a do-over on childhood.”

Even if you think your children are a witness in public schools, it isn’t worth it. Mother quotes Rob Dreher’s commentary on Get out Now:

“The culture war is over in most public schools and our side lost...[this book] should be a game changer for conservative parents, especially religious believers under the outdated illusion that their kids can be salt and light in such hostile deserts.”

Tune in to Mother Miriam Live at 10 a.m. EST to hear more of her insights and reflections on public school and homeschooling. Do you have questions or comments for Mother? You can call, text, or email her live during her show.

So true.

When things are really bad I’d go even further and say pull your kids out of America altogether...but I know that may not be the right approach. Who will be its salt and light then?

We need nuns to go back to teaching.

HOORAY Mother Miriam!!!

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

27. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a “religious crutch.”

Communism’s 45 declared goals for America.

I would pull the kids for another reason. The “democrats” are desperate and are going to pull whatever shenanigans it takes to get rid of the Second Amendment. I’d have my kids take classes online until after the 2020 election. At least I’d know they are safe from the insanity of the politicians.

So true. Here in CA, it is mandatory to teach gay sh&t to kids. and mostly importantly, I’m a private school grad’. Until today, my alma mater will not teach homo garbage to the kids.

More correctly, government schools.

I would even make a further distinction - that a solid Catholic education (even more of a plus if it has a classical bent) - is of utmost worth even when measured within the context of ‘private’ education.

Most of our Leftist elites that have brought ruin to the fabric of our country are products of highly expensive private, secular schools and top universities.

I searched for a way around the public schools, a way that I could afford. I went for Catholic schools. There was only one Protestant school, and they did not give scholarships. The private Catholic schools didn’t either so I went parochial for my kid the first 8 years. Even that had a smallish tuition if you were out of the parish. We were. I took advantage of the best parochial school in the city.

You do what you have to do.

There is a great need for Christian schools outside the South, which provided them big-time for the wrong reasons.

I’d have to sell my house and move into a trailer to be able to afford the tuition to the schools in my locality. As much as I’d love to send them I feel it’s most important to actually parent your kids, debrief them daily and keep social media to the bare minimum if it’s even necessary. My kids are both competitive cheerleaders for the school and an outside cheer company. They get along with most everyone but laugh at the “homo” coaches which are pretty much the norm for the sport i guess. Being a cheer dad, as long as they do well in school, both honors students, I’ll support them. Being that they are truly disappointed when we miss church, I think we’re raising them right and God has his eye on them.

“Debrief them daily” are very important words. I did some of that but probably not as much as I should have.

The rot is in most countries and many will not allow you to home school.

I make it a point to talk to them daily. One high schooler and one in middle school. It’s been pretty good in my neck of the woods in GA but the demographics are changing every year. Heck our county went demoncrat for the first time since Carter during the last general election cycle.

We have conservative friends who are teachers at our schools, one is the principle of the high school. They’ve all urged us to keep doing what we’re doing because the liberal facets of our education system are instituting the “chosen agenda” into the curriculum.

I can say confidently that we are doing everything in our power, with Gods help, to raise our children right. I personally feel if we keep them in church, keep them excited about worshiping God and following a righteous path they’ll turn out just fine, even in our government school system.

That said we are probably the strictest parents in our group of friends. I go to my hunt camp with a buddy about once a month to prep for the coming deer season and last trip out he commented that he is amazed at how much I talk to my kids even at camp. He said he may call his kid on the phone once a week even when at home. He said he’ll be starting to make more of an effort to interact with his daughter seeing how I am with mine. I hope so, his kid, in my opinion is more being raised by the public school system. In fact when we go over to visit the daughter is more often than not either on the phone (social media) or playing on an x-box. We do not allow the video game systems in our household, nor do we allow televisions in the rooms. Just my 2 cents.

Talk to your local Catholic priest. Most parishes will help in some way with your tuition.

What order? My kids had Felicians in grade school and they ran my daughter’s HS. My son’s HS was run by the Basilicans (priests and brothers). The Felicians wore the brown habits like Mother Meriam and were a conservative order. They received a great education.

Her nme before she became a nun was Rosalins Moss and she's a convert (a "completed") Jew. She founded a new order under the Benedictine Rule called "Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel's Hope") as a diocesan order, which you can read about here.

I haven't kept up with it, but I think the new order got into some kind of trouble with their old bishop who had sponsored them (Slattery, of Tulsa), died, and the new bishop didn't really want traditionalist nuns in his diocese. (Par for the course: so many of the saint-founders and foundresses had scrapes with bad bishops over the centuries.)

Good interview here.

Anyhow, her order survived somehow --- maybe some of the FReepers here can fill in the details --- and she also has a show in EWTN called, I think, "Heart to Heart with Mother Miriam".
