I have long thought that the reason gays fought for “marriage” was in order to ruin the Catholic Church, because civil unions for gays were already allowed in many states. This is another step towards that goal.

Very few gay couples marry when it's a legal option. Under 20%. Even less have a "lasting" marriage, e.g. over 5 years.
