It was a world history class in a lesson on The Muslim World.
From the lower court ruling;
"The assignment involving the shahada, the court found, was meant to assess whether students understood the beliefs and practices of Muslims. The task was factual, and students were not required to memorize the shahada, to recite it, or even to write the complete statement of faith, according to the ruling."
The Supremes made the right call and I don't understand why so many people seem to think ignorance of Islam is desirable.
That sounds like a legit class assignment.
And for those who think a mantra like that is magical; that it will turn you into a Muslim, thats some pretty powerful magic. And if you think its legitthat it automatically converts you, I think you dont understand how this works.
