__________
Taking the short look of history the answer may be yes we are becoming "an atheist nation".
But after the bad days ..........long after the World Series is over God will slowly become a concern of value.
The far bigger problem is people who say “I believe in a God who always agrees with ME!”
It is. Its becoming downright evil. When I was younger, I was sure that most people were basically good. I dont think so anymore.
On a scale of one to ten of religiosity, one to five are not what could be called religious.
The number zeros could be called atheists. Most of them are just indifferent to religion, faith, morality or spirituality. For them religion is not a part of their lives.
The number ones are actively anti-religious, be they “adamant anti-religious atheists”, satanists, pagans, socialists, spiritualists and witches.
The number twos are synthesists, who try to blend many beliefs into one, picking and choosing. They often try to call themselves religious, affiliating with a real religion but not limiting themselves to that.
The number threes are the “socially religious”, who do not believe or practice their articles of faith, but want to use that religion to advance their wealth and power.
The number fours are the “nominally religious”, who only rarely attend to their faith. They just give modest lip service to it, but want it to provide special services like weddings, funerals, and to give some introduction to religion to their children.
The number fives will attend to their religion at intervals, but do not use their moral compass, thinking of their affiliation as just credentials when asked of their faith.
The number sixes regularly attend to their religion, yet are dissatisfied with its social program, liberalism, or politics. When pushed to far they will migrate to a more conservative congregation or even denomination.
The number sevens and above seriously try to integrate the tenets of their faith into their daily lives, to varying degrees. They are clearly “religious people”.
