Though it's not the main point of this verse, there's something here that we can especially take comfort in:
"And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work." John 5:16-17
In Young's Literal Translation: "and because of this were the Jews persecuting Jesus, and seeking to kill him, because these things he was doing on a sabbath. And Jesus answered them, My Father till now doth work, and I work."
It's so easy to think about what we have to do to exercise faith, and to think about what other people are doing, what we maybe should be doing towards them, and what's going on in the world around us, and we can easily forget that the Lord is at work, and in every situation, He's working for our good (Romans 8:28). We can simply remind ourselves that we're to keep remembering that He is, and that He's a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him ( Hebrews 11:6), and to cast our cares on Him for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
Thanks. It’s important that we remember that.
Amen, it is. You’re welcome.
