Not understanding something is NOT racism. Sheesh.....

I think he meant that assuming indigenous people were unable to comprehend celibacy was condescending, like they are too stupid, so we have to cut them some slack. It’s what George W. Bush called the “soft bigotry of low expectations”.

I believe his racism reference was to Bishop Krautler’s comment that Amazonians could not understand celibacy. A demeaning comment on their ability to learn.
