There have been at least two transvestites who have won the Eurovision contests.

The first was Sharon Cohen of Israel in 1998 in Birmingham with the song “Diva”. Sharon Cohen was known by the stage name, DANA INTERNATIONAL.

The Second was of course the Austrian transgender, Conchita Wurst, who was born Thomas Neuwirth, an Austrian singer, recording artist, and drag queen who is known for his stage persona Conchita Wurst. Conchita was selected to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, where his performance received the most points and resulted in winning the contest.

I’ve next understood or investigated the Eurovision song contest (which goes back to the 1960s).

My only frame of reference is some bits on The Benny Hill Show.

How is it different from American Idol or The Voice or America’s Got Talent etc?
