In the Roman Catholic faith the seal of the confessional is sacrosanct. A priest literally CAN NOT go to the authorities and tell them what he heard in confession.
The LDS faith is quite different. They probably will keep silent as a courtesy on things that are simply embarrassing but by the rules of their church confession is not under seal and things that are criminal must be reported.
