[Barf Alert] The moral voter: Bishop offers guidance to faithful Catholic voters

Abandoning the Paris Climate Accords, the bishop said, “is a far greater moral evil” than federal health centers providing contraceptive devices

“It does little good to elect a saint who echoes Catholic social teaching on every issue,” he said, “if that candidate does not have the competence to carry out his duties effectively and thereby enhance the common good.”

...

And while he called contraception “intrinsically evil ... it is a far greater moral evil for our country to abandon the Paris Climate Accord than to provide contraceptives in federal health centers.”

“I think he’s trying to follow what Francis is doing,” said Dr. Marianne Benkert Sipe, a psychiatrist and former nun who has studied church social and political movements. “He’s trying to make the church a bigger tent.”

McElroy was also returning to themes he explored in his 1993 biography of John Courtney Murray, “The Search for an American Public Theology.” A Jesuit priest, Murray wrote extensively on relations between church and state, especially in societies with numerous religious traditions.

Can communion be denied to Bp. McElroy?

Rather, the question should be, "Should Holy Communion be be denied to Jorge's Boy Elroy?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Where did Bishop learn his moral theology? He did nt, and could not, acts like leaving the Paris climate agreement are intrinsically evil, because he would be
laughed at by Catholic high schoolers.

Intrinsically
evil acts are always and everywhere wrong. Non intrinsically evil acts are decisions guided by prudence.

“Then he will say to those on the Left, ‘Depart from me, ... For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when you were hungry and thirsty and a stranger and sick we were busy protesting the U.S. withdrawal from the the Paris Climate Accords that the U.S. never signed and the Europeans never followed but it’s a start and then the orange man and and ...’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I say unto you: what are you talking about???’

Impossible. Since he is a validly ordained Bishop. He can even be excommunicated from the Church, but regardless he still has the authority to say Mass and can confect the Eucharist.

That will be on his soul however.
