I think we are on a big ball that has experienced a lot of “ages”. The currrent string of ages, beginning with Genesis 1:3 seems to have begun with a water covered ball. And the string will end with fire completely roasting the surface as described in the end of revelation. There will be no oceans.
But this all may have been preceded by dozens (or more) of ages in Genesis 1: 1-2 and may be followed up by dozens or thousands of ages after the story of man in the bible.
There is a heck of a lot more going in in God’s unseen realm than we can even imagine.

7 years of the tribulation, then a 1000 millennial reign of Christ o n THIS earth- then and only then will the earth be destroyed by God all at once, and a new earth and a new heaven will be created-
